Resource Conservation and Development (RC&D) Programs work to promote and protect economic, natural and social resources at the local and regional level.

The RC&D program was established by the Agricultural Act of 1962 to provide a program that empowered rural people to help themselves.

The RC&D program is one of the most successful rural development programs of the Federal Government due to its focus on local direction and control.

RC&D Councils are composed of local representatives who volunteer to assist in the delivery of RC&D programs. Members may be from…

·         City/County government

·        Soil & Water Conservation Districts

·         Economic Development Boards

·        Businesses

·         Organizations

·         Non-profit(s)

·        Other local representatives
